Five years later, on December 7, 2024, its doors opened again on par, marking a new beginning for the restored church. On that occasion, Pope Francis referred to Notre-Dame as “a masterpiece of Christian faith and architecture,” while affirming that, with his reopening, “sadness and mourning” gave way to joy.
Since its reopening, the influx of faithful and pilgrims to the cathedral has not ceased. Just a month after its inauguration, the temple had already received 800,000 visits, which is equivalent to about 29,000 people a day.
The figure has not stopped growing. According to a recent report, until June 30, the total number of visitors exceeds six million, with a daily average of approximately 35,000 people.
The French newspaper La Tribune on Sunday He specified that, in six months after his reopening, 6,015 million people have crossed their doors.
Consequently, Notre Dame has become the most visited monument in France, according to the newspaper El Rector of the Cathedral, Mons. Olivier Ribadeau Dumas. The French prelate also stressed that, every month, visits amount to an average of a thousand people more than the previous month.
These numbers exceed 8.7 million visits that the famous Louvre Museum received last year, at the 8.7 million that was recorded in Versailles or the 6.3 million people who rose to the emblematic Eiffel Tower.
