The origin of the book culminating a saga
The priest and former rector of the Seminar of Santo Toribio de Mogrovejo de Lima says that his book arises as the conclusion of a series of works that began about 10 years ago. Among its previous titles are A little while with God, A little while with Jesus, A little while with the Virgin Maryamong others. However, he decided to close the saga with Not a little while with the devil.
“It is important to know that the devil exists. It is not a Chinese story, it is not a myth, ”said Fr. Rosell. “Let’s not forget that Jesus Christ has come so that we are not dominated by the evil one. He has come to save us from sin, to save us from the devil, to save us from death. ”
“With the devil it is not dialogue”
The priest warned that the evil always seeks to catch man in his networks and that falling into his temptations is dangerous. “The moment one falls into the evil networks, it is very difficult to leave. That is why you have to always be on guard. Pope Francis has said many times: ‘With the devil he did not talk, ”he recalled.
One of the main objectives of his book is to make it clear that the devil is real and that his action in the world is constant, although many times it is not obvious. “It is in the Word of God and the Word of God does not lie,” he emphasized.
This is how the devil presents in today’s world
According to the teaching of the Catholic Church, the human soul has three enemies that move it away from God: the demon, the world and flesh. “The world, in the sense of everything that man builds behind God’s back and leads us to sin, such as pornography, drugs, corruption, etc. Meat, which is concupiscence, our inclinations to sin. And the demon, who acts ordinary through temptations and extraordinarily with possessions and other phenomena, ”explained the priest.
Father Rosell also warned about the influence of ideologies on modern thought. “All ideologies have a diabolical quota. It is not a matter of right or left. Let’s think about the damage that communism has done. Let’s think about the damage that uncontrolled capitalism does, which puts money in the first place. Let’s think about the damage that gender ideology is causing, which is a rebellion against the creator. ”
Hell: an undeniable reality
The priest said that many people deny the existence of the devil and, therefore, also of hell. However, he recalled that “the Word of God affirms that there is evil, there are demons and also hell.”
“Jesus speaks several times of his existence. Saint Paul mentions it several times, but I also want to highlight something very important: Jesus speaks more about salvation. It mentions ninety times the kingdom of God and the kingdom of heaven; He also talks about hell, but to a greater extent he speaks of heaven, ”he said.
Father Rosell made it clear that hell is a consequence of the misuse of freedom. “God is infinitely merciful, but he has also created us free. If we live in mortal sin and do not regret it, it is ourselves who condemn ourselves, ”he recalled.
Tips not to fall into the evil traps
The book Not a little while with the devil warns about spiritual dangers and provides concrete tools to combat them. P. Rosell remembers the main ones:
-
Daily prayer: “Saint Teresa of Jesus said: ‘Who leaves prayer no longer needs a demon to let him go.”
-
Frequent confession: “The exorcist P. Merth said that what gives the devil the most anger is to see a priest confessing.”
-
Mass and communion in grace: “If we can, we attend Mass every day and always commune in the grace of God.”
-
Devotion to the Virgin Mary: “If we are with the Virgin, we are protected. Let’s pray the rosary. Rosary accounts are artillery weapons, and the demon trembles when he hears the Ave Maria. ”
-
Prudence in daily life: “It is not enough to pray, confess or attend Mass; We need prudence. You have to take care of what we see, who we are and where we are. ”
Fr. Rosell concluded the interview with a message of hope: “Catholics have the grace to have the Eucharist, which is the maximum, and with the protection of the Virgin Mary. Nothing more important. ”
Where to get the book?
The priest thanked the daughters of San Pablo, who carry out the Paulinas publishing house, for their support in the publication and distribution of the book. Not a little while with the devil It is available in Pauline bookstores.
Finally, he said that he is already preparing a new publication with another style and thematic, but always with the aim of strengthening the faith of Catholics.
