Cardinal Timothy Dolan, Archbishop of New York, wished a happy July 4, United States Independence Day, and encouraged to celebrate it recognizing that there is an dependence on God’s Almighty.
“I think we celebrate the day of independence correctly, because we became independent of a tyrant king, in the revolutionary world and hence July 4: we declare an independent nation,” said Cardinal Dollan in a video published on his social networks.

“Our founding parents, who were great heroes and wise men, knew that the secret of this nation, is that we began to recognize our dependence on Almighty God,” the purple continued.
“Then we can be politically independent, from an earthly, legal or political point of view, but in the heart of our being, in the end we are dependent on the providence, grace and mercy of the Almighty God,” said the Archbishop of New York.
“Then,” he concluded, “we celebrated Independence Day as a nation and also recognize that we are dependent on God.”
The territory that is known today as the United States was made up of 13 colonies of the British empire. On July 4, 1776 – during the War of Independence, in which the US army was commanded by George Washington – all colonies signed the declaration of independence.
The War of Independence concluded with the victory of the so -called Continental Army and with the Treaty of Paris, which was signed on September 3, 1783, in which Great Britain recognized the independence of the United States.
