New lighting in the dome of the Basilica of San Pedro

The dome of the Basilica of San Pedro, of 14,000 tons of weight and five centuries of antiquity, will premiere a new lighting the next Easter to further enhance the magnificent work of Miguel Ángel.

Experts are subjecting the dome drum, the structure that serves as a base, to different tests of functionality and light intensity.

In addition, technical operations are being carried out during the night to verify the intensity of the light, which will also be more calibrated and will be better distributed.

These changes, which will see the light on Sunday, April 20, will allow tourists and pilgrims to value, even more, one of the most famous domes in the world.

Miguel Ángel’s great Renaissance dome was built to guard the remains of San Pedro.
