New generation of young Catholics seek the radical love of Christ

During the jubilee of young people, he presented himself in the Basilica of Santa María in Trastevere, in Rome, the “Manifesto of the young Christians of Europe”, a text elaborated and signed by 250 thousand people who, without fear, proclaim the world that Christ is the one who gives meaning to their lives.

More than 800 young people went to the appointment last Friday, August 1, which also had the presence of several bishops and cardinals of the Roman curia, such as Mons. Rino Fisichella, proprephic of the Dicastery for evangelization.

“Chance is God’s silent firm”

It is a “spiritual revolution” that drives Christians to reunite with the Lord through pilgrimage, healing and evangelization, with an eye on the jubilee of the redemption of 2033, which will take place in Jerusalem.

What began as a project with the mission of “returning the soul to Europe” has taken giant steps in recent months, far exceeding all expectations.

This is reported to ACI Press Fernando Moscardó, young Spanish member of the Organizing Committee. “Europe has lost its soul, but there are many more places that are thirsty, perhaps because they have never had it and are new grounds of evangelization, or perhaps because they do not want to live what has happened in Europe and do not want to lose it,” he said.

As spokesman for this new generation of Catholics, he ensures that many situations that seemed impossible have been resolved in a providential way, convinced that “chance is God’s silent signature.”

“These days we have realized that everything is signed by him,” says Moscardó, still overwhelmed by the success and great reception of this project, which is now part of the youth of different corners of the world, not only from Europe, and even has the support of Pope Leo XIV and the Holy See.

Humility respond to the thirst for young people looking for the meaning of their life

After a period of discernment and prayer, the month of September will start with different proposals, such as a pilgrimage on foot from Rome to Santiago de Compostela and from there to Jerusalem. They also have a podcast, catechesis and different initiatives.

Details that it is not “a new movement” or “a hakuna 2.0”, but rather one “response to the thirst for young people looking for the meaning of their life“And of a new generation” Servant of the Lord “that does not want to have power, but” serve, love and walk. “

Under the motto “we are not tourists of the spiritual”, these young people want to make meaning to the “abandoned sanctuaries” and transform the pilgrimage paths that have become merely tourist routes. “We want to fill them with meaning, prayer and turn them into new places of meeting,” he emphasizes.

In addition to the pilgrimages, they seek to return hope to all those young people who do not find meaning to their life: “suicide data alarm me, the solitude data alarm me, but to think that more than 60% of the young society of Europe today thinks that their life makes no sense, it seems to me a super clear sign that we have completely lost the course, that we have lost my soul,” he laments.

The young Spanish evidences the importance of these people can “perceive the love of Christ” and to have at their disposal the necessary tools to achieve it. He emphasizes that his goal is to “serve”, since “we have to learn to be humble, like the Lord, who even being God, maintained humility as a sword.”

“People have tired of selling empty stories”

The characteristic that defines this new generation of Catholics, Moscardó adds, is nothing more and nothing less than love: “There is nothing more than that. We can look for the word that is, but it is love, because a person who feels loved, can then witness that love he has felt.”

Following this manifesto, Fernando explains, a generation is born that “begins to specify a dogma that until now was perhaps a bit lost, we needed to find the focus and begin to realize it in actions, in striking actions. And one of them is love, the most important value that the delivery, radical availability and the search for meaning is born”.

“I think that People have tired that they sell empty stories. Young people tell us that they are tired of ‘Vanilla things’, we want things with weight, we want extremism, “a word that, he says, we must not fear, since the Lord” loved us to the extreme, until his death on the cross. ”

In this regard, he indicated that “You have to be radical with a faith that lies in Christthat lies in the love of Christ, and we have to start not being afraid of saying it. These days I have seen a generation that aroused, which left fear aside and that sought meaning in its fullness, that was tired of empty stories, ”he said finally.
