Castletown Media, in collaboration with Catholic filmmaker Jim Wahlberg, announced the news on February 12.

The documentary, produced by Castletown Media and distributed by Fathom Events, arrives after the success of another joint project: “Jesus Thirsts: The Miracle of the Eucharist”(Jesus is thirsty: the miracle of the Eucharist), the highest grossing documentary of 2024 for Fathom Events.

Roadmap to Reality Explore Acutis’s life and the teachings it offers young people about the challenges of the digital world. Production combines performance, animation and interviews with family, friends, technology experts and academics to address urgent questions about artificial intelligence and the impact of technology on society.

The documentary also follows the trip of a group of high school students who pilgrimage for two weeks from North Dakota to Italy to visit Acutis’s tomb. As a requirement for pilgrimage, young people had to disconnect from technology and leave their phones at home.

In addition, the film includes testimonies of Acutis family and friends about its impact on their lives, as well as reflections of Catholic leaders and technology experts that offer a model for young people to participate in a healthy way in the digital world.

“Fathom Entertainment is very happy to join forces again with Tim, Jim and the passionate Castletown Media team to carry this moving and edifying documentary film to the big screen,” said Ray Nutt, executive director of Fathom Entertainment, in a press release .

“This captivating real and contemporary story will resonate in audiences of all beliefs and origins, leaving a lasting impact and inspiring countless hearts,” he added.

One of the central themes of the film is that Carlo Acutis “was online to take people out of the Internet connection. I was online to guide them back to the Eucharist, to the real meetings, ”said Tim Moriarty, director of the documentary and founder of Castletown Media, in statements to CNA, Ewtn News English agency.

Moriarty stressed that Carlo’s life is a guide to escape the distractions of the virtual world and rediscover the real world, especially through his devotion to the Eucharist, which he called his “highway to heaven.” He also considered that the documentary’s premiere is “providential.”

On November 20, 2024, Pope Francis announced that the canonization of Blessed Carlo Acutis will take place during the jubilee of adolescents. The canonization mass will be held on Sunday, April 27 at 10:30 am (local time) in the Plaza de San Pedro, according to the Diocese of Assisi.

Carlo Acutis, an Italian teenager passionate about computer science, died of leukemia in 2006. He is known for his great devotion to the real presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. Born in 1991, he was the first millennial to be beatified by the Catholic Church and will now be the first to be canonized.
