Pope Leo XIV made three relevant appointments on two dicasteries on Friday, May 30 and in the Vatican Apostolic Archive.
The Holy Father has appointed Office Chief in the Dicasterio for the service of charity to Mons. Romanus Mbena, until now advisor to Nunciature in the section for the general matters of the Secretary of State.

Before being part of the Secretary of State, Mons. Mbena was Nuncio in Albania.
The Dicasteria for the service of charity, also called Apostolic Simers, performs assistance and help for those in need in the name of the Pope, who personally provides the aids that must be allocated in cases of a special indigence or other need.
It is also responsible for receiving, searching and requesting voluntary donations for charity works that the Roman Pontiff exercises for the most needy.
He has also appointed Office Chief in the Dicasterio for the interreligious dialogue to Fr. Laurent Basanese, until now an officer of the same body.
This Jesuit priest specializes in Christian Arab theology and Islamic studies. He founded the Gregorian Center for Interreligious Studies (2015) at the Pontifical Gregorian University and directed the inter -religious and intercultural research series until 2021.
In 2020 and 2021 he was the consultant of the Commission for Religious Relations with the Muslims of the Pontifical Council for the interreligious dialogue and is also one of the experts referring to Rome of the University Platform for Research on Islam (Pluriel) and member of the Coordinating and Scientific Committee of this network.
He has participated in numerous congresses and meetings about dialogue and peace in Europe and throughout the world. Among his latest publications, he stands out Human fraternity and middle paths as pillars for a peaceful, just and prosperous world.
This Vatican dicastery works so that dialogue with the followers of other religions develop properly, with an attitude of listening, esteem and respect.
It also encourages various forms of relationship with them so that peace, freedom, social justice, protection and safeguarding of creation, spiritual and moral values are promoted.
Finally, Leo XIV has appointed an expert for the Vatican Apostolic Archive. This is the Italian lay Daniele Galllinella, responsible for the computer service of the same institution.
The Vatican Apostolic Archive is responsible for custody and assessment of acts and documents related to the government of the Universal Church, offering a service to the Holy Father and students.
