The Jesuit chronicler details that it was Father Jiménez Berzal who went to the roof to spiritually assist the occupants of the vehicle who “appeared through the right front door.”
In addition to Carrero Blanco, they were the police officer, Juan Antonio Bueno Fernández, and the driver, José Luis Pérez Mogena. That day, the daughter of the recently appointed President of the Government just 5 months before, Ángeles, who used to accompany her father, did not do so and that is why she saved her life.
The Jesuit chronicle details that “great confusion reigns. There is a big sinkhole in the street. The Brother Minister (brother in charge of the house), accompanied by a guard from the Armed Police and a secret policeman from the President’s escort, goes up to the roof to see what happened.”
