The organizers of the 18th Corso for the life and the family that took place on Saturday, March 29 in Arequipa, in southern Peru, reported that more than 200,000 people participated in the already emblematic event that commemorates, since 2006, on the day of the child to be born.
The event organized by the Regional Coordinator for Life (Corvida) was marked by the great party and joy atmosphere that the crowd lived, which with dances, banners and slogans, recalled the importance of defending all human life, from conception to natural death.

The Corsican began around 3:00 pm, in the Plaza Mayta Cápac of the Miraflores district, from where the delegations toured the main roads of the Historic Center of Arequipa, until culminating in Santa Catalina Street, already at night.
Among the participants were educational institutions, clubs, civil associations, municipalities, professional associations, universities, ecclesial communities, movements and parishes.

Mons. Javier del Río Alba, Archbishop of Arequipa, greeted the delegations in the Plaza de Armas, and said that this Corsican “is much more than a parade, which is the public testimony of a city that defends the dignity of each person from their conception to natural death.”
The Prelate also thanked the volunteers who helped in the organization of Corso, “who have been so early and made it possible for the Corso to develop without setbacks.”

“I know that it has been hard work, that they have been coordinating in advance and that today they have been hours of hours dedicated to the Corsican, I thank you for everything, all my heart,” he added before imparting his blessing to those present.

“Long live life, live the family, live Jesus Christ!” Concluded the archbishop.
In turn, Guadalupe Valdez, president of Corvida, said that “we are deeply excited by this historical participation that exceeds all our expectations. Seeing whole families, from grandparents to babies, united in this celebration of life, confirms that Arequipa keeps firm its fundamental values.”

An outstanding aspect of this Corsican was the participation of women who have aborted and now add to the cause of the defense of life and family, to also support those who face similar situations.
