It will be a historical musical week for Chascomús. More than 200 girls, boys and young people from children’s and youth orchestras throughout Argentina will participate in The Soijar 2025 Festival In this city of the province of Buenos Aires to celebrate its 20 years with a historical edition.
From February 16 to 22, this federal festival will summon them a vibrant week of Workshops, seminars and outdoor concerts Within the natural framework of the Chascomús Lagoon, the Buenos Aires city that is National Capital of Children and Youth Orchestras.
Only 120 kilometers from the City of Buenos Aires, the meeting will be the epicenter of the celebration promoted by the Soijar Foundation (Children’s and Youth Orchestras System of Argentina), with the support of the Cultural Institute of the Government of the Province of Buenos Aires and of the Municipality of Chascomús.
With a program that combines musical training of excellence with recreational activities, the festival enhances the network work of the country’s orchestras and choirs, promoting “inclusion, integration, equality, equity and community integration.”
As in each edition, the Festival will also offer concerts open to the public in the beautiful natural environment of Chascomús, starring the Filmonic of the Festival, a national team of musicians composed of children, girls and young people from 9 years and young people, and other groups, and other groups, with the special participation of great guest artists.
In addition, on Thursday, the South Park will be the headquarters of “Chascomúsica”, one of the great novelties, with a deployment of participatory activities open to the community.
It will be a didactic proposal to know how an orchestral formation works, what are the instruments families, what is a director, see the “kitchen” of the preparation of a concert and live the feeling of being part of an orchestra.
On this occasion, to the work of Liliana Parodi as ambassador of the Soijar Foundation, it also joins as Ambassador, Lito Vitale, in recognition of “his commitment to the dissemination and promotion of the movement of children’s and youth orchestras in Argentina.”
The concerts
On February 16, it will be the turn of Del Concert Apertura “Piazzolla at sunset” by the Chascomús Philharmonic, with the special guests Rafael Gintoli and Nico Sorín.
The program will be launched with a trip through the work of the great Marplatense composer performed by the local philharmonic. The program will include a part in symphonic format, to also honor the teacher Gintoli, and another dedicated to the Nico Sorín electronic project, which will add its presence to the celebration.

On February 19 will take place “Chascomús cultivates a symbol of peace”. With Hilda Canta Charly, the Federal Philharmonic Soijar and Lito Vitale as musical director.
With the Chascomunense community as host, Hilda Lizarazu will pay tribute to the legacy of Charly García accompanied by a band of great musicians commanded by Lito Vitale, together with the federal philharmonic SOIJAR, through a repertoire loaded with classics.
February 21 will be the Beatle “Peace & Love” concert, with the orchestra-school of Chascomús and the special guests The Beats, Jon Holberg (Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts) and the Orchestra-School of Voices of Mar del Plata.
Seven of the grouping of the local orchestra-school, designated ambassador of La Paz by Ringo Starr, thank the musical heritage of the British band that revolutionized the world with versions created in collaboration with the Liverpool Institute for performing Arts, with the support of the British Council through a contest won by the Soijar Foundation.
February 22 will be the triumphant concert of the Philharmonic of “El Festival” (Argentine national selected of young musicians), with the guest director Guillermo Scarabino and the special guest Gastón Angrisani.

More than 200 children, adolescents and young musicians from all over the country will celebrate the 20 years of “El Festival” with a program of great classic works, such as Oberatura Romeo and Julieta (Pi Tchaikovski under the baton of Master Scarabino).
In addition, there will be a tribute to the National Soccer Team in the framework of the arrival in Chascomús of the eternal laurel show and the finalissima.
In the end of the party the charros will perform next to the Chascomús Philharmonic.
Transformation through music

In 2016, Chascomús was declared a national capital of children and youth orchestras by the National Congress in “a recognition that reaffirms its role as the cradle of the orchestra-school methodology (MOE) and as the headquarters of this federal movement that continues to transform lives through of music “.
In turn, the Soijar Foundation was born on October 4, 2004, when the teacher José Antonio Abreu recognized the orchestra-school of Chascomús as an “extraordinary phenomenon.”
Since then, Soijar has promoted provincial, regional and national meetings. Only in 2024, its scholarship program accompanied more than 120 young people in their training within the Argentine multipliers plan, based on the orchestra-school methodology (MOE), created by Valeria Atela.
“With an intense trajectory that has impacted tens of thousands of children, youth, educators and cultural managers, the Soijar Foundation continues to use music as a powerful tool for social transformation, promoting opportunities for personal and community development throughout the country” , the organizers stand out.
