A Jubilee in the heart of Rome
The celebrations will begin on Wednesday, October 8, with personal pilgrimages to the Holy Doors, open between 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.
At 7:00 p.m. a prayer vigil will be held in St. Peter’s Basilica, presided over by the pro-prefect of the Dicastery for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life, Cardinal Ángel Fernández Artime, SDB.
On Thursday, October 9, Pope Leo XIV will preside over the Jubilee Mass in St. Peter’s Square at 10:30, in which all the consecrated men and women present will participate.
That same afternoon, Rome will host the “Dialogues with the city”, a series of meetings open to the public in different squares with themes inspired by the values of the Jubilee.
Days of reflection and prayer
The program will continue with specific activities for some 4,000 accredited pilgrims, coordinated by the Dicastery for Institutes of Consecrated Life. On Thursday afternoon, reflection meetings will be held according to the different forms of consecrated life.
On Friday, October 10, the day will focus on hope. From 8:00 to noon, the Paul VI Hall will host a Eucharistic celebration, the intervention of the Jesuit Father Giacomo Costa, consultant to the General Secretariat of the Synod of Bishops, and a meeting with the Holy Father.
In the afternoon, participants will be able to share a “spiritual conversation” in the same places as the previous day. From 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. a moment of multilingual prayer open to all will be held, animated by consecrated communities in different churches in the center of Rome.
Peace, mediation and mission
Saturday, October 11, will be dedicated to the theme of peace. Starting at 8:00, in the Paul VI Hall, participants will hear the testimony of Sister Teresa Maya, CCVI, former president of the Conference of Major Superiors of the United States (LCWR).
After the Mass and a lunch offered by the Dicastery, workshops on mediation and conflict management will be held, led by Jesuit Father David McCallum, director of the Discerning Leadership Program and member of the Methodological Commission of the Synod of Bishops.
The day will conclude with an act of prayer in the Basilica of Saint Paul Outside the Walls, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., open to all pilgrims and with passage through the Holy Door.
Finally, on Sunday, October 12, participants will join the Jubilee Mass of Marian Spirituality in St. Peter’s Square, which will put the finishing touch to a meeting that celebrates the testimony, diversity and mission of consecrated life in the Church.
