The figure originally reported by the local press was two bishops, 13 priests and three seminarians. A statement from the Ortega dictatorship published later included a definitive list that included, in addition to the two prelates, a total of 15 priests and two freed seminarians.
At the end of the celebration of the Eucharist in the church of St. Agathain the Archdiocese of Miami (United States), Bishop Báez, who had to go into exile due to persecution and threats from the Ortega regime in April 2019, announced that “the two bishops were released, Mons. Rolando Álvarez, who had been in prison for more than 500 days; and Mons. Isidoro Mora”, as well as the priests and seminarians that the dictatorship had kidnapped.
“I tell this with deep joy,” said the Nicaraguan prelate. “I also tell it so that we give thanks to the Lord, this is the power of the prayer of the people of God.”
