Argentine president Javier Milei will not participate in the summit meeting of the bloc formed by Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay and Argentina, which will be held on the 8th, next Monday, in Asunción, Paraguay. Milei thus intends to avoid a meeting with his political opponent, President Lula, and also indicate contempt for regional integration.
Last week, during an interview with the LN+ television channel, Milei ratified his criticisms against Lula, once again calling him corrupt and a communist. Days earlier, Lula had declared that the Argentine owed him and Brazil an apology for the statements he had made during the presidential campaign for the Casa Rosada.
Brazil is Argentina’s main trading partner and Argentina, in turn, is the destination for Brazil’s main industrial exports. This Monday, it was reported that Milei will travel to Brazil over the weekend to participate in the meeting of the conservative group Political Conference of Conservative Action (CPAC), where President Jair Bolsonaro and his son, deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro, are expected to be present.
Milei has already participated in a meeting of this group in Maryland, in the United States, where she met with the former president and candidate for the White House, Donald Trump. With the plan to travel to Brazil to meet with Bolsonaro and not with Lula, Milei intensifies his ideological choice and the escalation of divergence and distance with the president of the Republic of Brazil.
