Milei in a crowded concert hall: “enemies want to overthrow the government”

Milei took the stage like a rock singer. Leather Jacket, accompanied by musicians, sang songs by the Argentine group La Renga. And then, without his jacket and wearing a jacket and tie, he gave a long speech against the State, in defense of economic freedom, against socialism, against the left and against abortion and avoided further criticism against former president Cristina Kirchner and the president of the government of Spain, the socialist Pedro Sánchez. His supporters, most of them between 18 and 30 years old, applauded him even when Milei mentioned the names of little-known foreign economists. In the front rows of Luna Park were ministers and politicians sympathetic to the government, including some members of the former government of Mauricio Macri and Alberto Fernández.

While Milei was speaking, the audience shouted “Cristina, arrested”. The president said, from the stage: “You can be sure that I would accompany you in this song, but (the problem) is that I would no longer respect the division of powers”. Milei also responded when the public chanted against Pedro Sánchez, from Spain. “I don’t want to give (Chancellor) Diana Mondino any more work,” he said, smiling, into the microphone.

Milei spoke and acted as he did in his campaign for Casa Rosada. And she launched new controversial phrases. “When a company launches a new, cheaper and more modern cell phone, the other nine on the market fail. This is wonderful. You will have a cheaper and more modern cell phone,” she said, without considering the possible unemployment that would be generated by the collapse of companies.

Milei said that, in historical times, they sought to use abortion to eliminate Jews. He stated that not all economists know what the market is. But the problem, she said, is not the market or people, “but politicians”. He was applauded. He repeated that “the problem continues to be the damn State”. In his long speech, at the launch of his book, “Capitalism, socialism and the neoclassical trap”, the Argentine president cited those who, in his view, want to overthrow the government. Milei spoke about “a fight against 21st century socialism”. And he mentioned, among them, the São Paulo Forum, Gramsci and the Puebla Group. “These enemies who try to overthrow this government because they want socialism and misery to continue,” he said.
