The departure of the now former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Diana Mondino, was announced this Wednesday through an official statement from the Presidency of Argentina.
For several days, his departure had been speculated, following direct interference from President Javier Milei’s sister in the department, as reported by Clarin journalist in Spanish, Natasha Niebieskikwiat.
Mondino had a fluid dialogue with the Chancellor of Brazil, Mauro Vieira, and with the Brazilian ambassador in Buenos Aires, Júlio Bitelli. Milei and President Lula never spoke. And the expectation now is to know what the relationship with Werthein will be like. He is expected to accompany Milei to the meeting of heads of state at the G-20, on November 18th and 19th, in Rio de Janeiro. There is no prediction of a meeting between Lula and Milei.
Mondino was fired after Argentina voted at the UN against the embargo on Cuba. But it was clear that she didn’t make the decision alone.
