Javier Milei’s message was made through a video on his social network shortly after Nicolás Maduro was proclaimed president for the period 2025-2031 by the National Electoral Council (CNE), in Caracas.
Shortly before the election, on Sunday (28), the two presidents exchanged public barbs. Maduro called Milei a “fascist, coward and Nazi”. The Argentine, in turn, called from Paris, where he participated in the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games, to opposition leader María Corina Machado, pillar of the candidacy of former diplomat Edmundo González Urrutia, from the Democratic Unitary Platform (PUD).
In a statement released this Monday, the Argentine Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it “does not recognize” the results announced by the CNE, according to which Maduro was elected president again. “Argentina strongly condemns the decision of President Nicolás Maduro which, as expected, ignores, once again, the will of the Venezuelan people to live in a free, prosperous and democratic Venezuela”, says the text. In the statement, Argentina considers it “essential” to have access to the minutes with the voting results.
