A group of faithful gathers every Wednesday of the year in front of an image of the Virgin of Guadalupe located in the garden of the Andares Shopping Center, in the city of Zapopan, Jalisco, to pray the Rosary. This initiative began with the purpose of bringing faith closer to those who no longer attend churches, especially during the month of October, dedicated to the Rosary.
Adriana Orozco, who promoted this practice in 2022, shared with ACI Prensa that at first she only met with a couple of people to pray in October, the month that the Catholic Church dedicates to the Rosary. Over time, the activity grew, including flowers and music, which attracted more people and “now we are a group of people who do not belong to any institution, anything, we simply work at (the Andares Shopping Center)” and were the visitors to the place add up.

This activity, Orozco noted, has allowed them to observe “the need for God and how people have forgotten him.” According to him, many people express that, when passing by the place, they find in praying the Rosary a moment to get closer to God.
“There are people who do not stay for the entire Rosary, there are people who just stay for a Hail Mary, there are people who only set an intention, but I believe that everything adds up,” she commented, convinced that “if people do not go to the temple “You have to go where the people are.”
Diana García, communication coordinator of the Andares Shopping Center, told ACI Prensa that it is “fundamental” for the shopping center to support activities that “help bring us closer to God’s call and invite us to reflect.”
“As a shopping center proudly from Guadalajara and entrusted to the Virgin of Guadalupe, we believe that these experiences strengthen our community and promote values of peace and solidarity among all,” said García.
During October, the month of the Rosary, and May, known as the “month of flowers” or month of Mary, the faithful gather to pray daily.
García pointed out that this devotion is not limited only to the month of October. During the Advent season they organize the lighting of candles in the Advent wreath every Sunday, “to pray, reflect and prepare to celebrate the true spirit of Christmas, the birth of the child God.”
Additionally, every December 12, in honor of the Virgin of Guadalupe, the Andares Shopping Center has a special space in the Virgin’s garden, where visitors can leave their requests and thanks on cards dedicated to the “Little Virgin.”
This coming October 31, at 4:30 pm (local time), they will receive a visit from Our Lady of Expectation of Zapopan, known as “La Generala” and patron saint of the Archdiocese of Guadalajara, in their main forum, where they invite invite your visitors to join in a moment of prayer.
