“Recognize the gift of life”
In an interview with ACI Prensa, Alison González, spokeswoman for the celebration, stressed that the motto of the march and this celebration is not simply limited to recognizing the pregnant woman, but also covers the “child, the adolescent, the adult without work, some (person with) complexity, the adolescent with depression or anxiety, the elderly who feels alone”, among others.
González explained that the celebration seeks to convey that “regardless of the crises that may face, typical of each stage of life, recognize the gift of life.”
However, he stressed that the event is focused on women, he acknowledges that there is still a lot of work to do to ensure that he is dignified and “he feels safe at home, in transport, in the streets, in schools, in his work. That is, it is true that you have to do a lot of appreciation and value of women and life”.
A party for life
Alison González added that the celebration will include testimonies, surprises and activities: “It is a time to share the good news, hope, stories that can be kept in the heart and help us see life as a gift all the time.”
The spokeswoman said that it seeks to maintain a festive spirit that has been transforming the celebration, “seeks to unite, sow hope, break with the false dilemma that or choose the woman or choose life.”
“That is, let’s imagine a world where you can attend both in their different needs, the need of the mother woman when she is brewing, when she is pregnant, because they are very different from the needs of the baby that is growing in their belly and why confront them when both are important, equally worthy and both have totally different needs?”
Why is it important to manifest?
González emphasized that, before a context in which abortion advances in the country and initiatives are proposed against the culture of life, “today we never need messages of hope.”
He added that, in the face of the economic, political and cultural situation, citizen participation is fundamental, because it allows you to tell the entire country: “I care about the country, I care about society, I care about the family, I care about the woman; I care to recognize the dignity of the person in all people.”
Finally, he stressed that the celebration seeks to “sow hope”, so that each assistant returns to their community “with the chip that life is always a good, life must be protected, you have to see it, you have to seek it at all times.”
He added that, regardless of the problems or complications that arise, if everything is faced with an eye on “the dignity of the person, it is very easy to make decisions, it is very easy to glimpse roads, solutions to any crisis that we face”.
