Mexico: Bishop Salvador Rangel is discharged after being found in hospital

The media version indicates that the bishop was “deprived of his freedom to steal money from the ATM, using his debit card.” It is mentioned that “the people who could have held him captive, once they ‘squeezed’ his accounts, released him.”

Although this has not been officially confirmed, Uriel Carmona Gándara, Attorney General of the State of Morelos, declared to the media on April 29 that “preliminarily what we have is that it could have been an express kidnapping.”

This type of crime is characterized by being a short-term kidnapping in order to obtain all possible money from the victim, whether from their bank accounts or from the available cash that their family gathers, in a space of a few hours.
