Pope Francis greeted the participants of the procession of the Lord of Miracles that arrived at the Vatican this Sunday and encouraged them to “continue on the path of faith.”

In his greeting to the pilgrims after the Angelus prayer, Pope Francis said: “I greet the Brotherhood of the Lord of Miracles, of the Peruvians in Rome, whom I thank for their testimony and encouragement to continue on the path of faith.” .
The Holy Father’s greeting is given one day before the central festival of the Lord of Miracles, whose fourth procession takes place today in Lima, through the streets of the historic center of the Peruvian capital, in which a large crowd of faithful participates.
Who is the Lord of Miracles?
The Lord of Miracles, also called Christ of Pachacamilla, Purple Christ or Moreno Christ is an image of Jesus painted on an adobe wall that is preserved in the Sanctuary of Las Nazarenas in Lima (Peru).
The miraculous image has withstood the onslaught of several earthquakes, which is why its veneration has grown increasingly since the 17th century, becoming a distinctive feature of Peruvians throughout the world.
One of the many processions of the Lord of Miracles takes place in Rome and concludes in St. Peter’s Square in the Vatican, where he usually receives the greeting of Pope Francis. In 2023 that happened on Sunday, October 22.
