“Looking for the Blessed

Within the framework of the Jubilee of the Holy See, held on Monday, June 9, Sr. María Gloria Riva, a religious of the monastic community of the perpetual adoratrices of the Blessed Sacrament, gave a meditation in the classroom Paul VI to which Pope Leo XIV came.

According to the religious, who has lived for a decade in the monastery of the Order founded by the Italian María Magdalena of the Incarnation in San Marino, it was Pope Francis who designated her to guide the meditation.

At the beginning of her text, the religious warned about the risk that the world runs “to lose her own historical roots”, stressing that current society “claims a hope lying between the past and the future.”

In this context, he said that “today we run the risk of living in the nostalgia of a past that no longer exists, which leads to a traditionalism often disconnected from the present, or of throwing ourselves into a future that still does not exist, falling into an illusory futurism, unable to offer real solutions to the challenges of the present.”

“Hope resides in eternal life”

“The past,” Sor Riva continued, “with her pain and glories, she can represent a great springboard to live the present” in the proper way.

He also stressed that “we live in a world in motion, where progress can be a great resource, but also a great danger”, where the opportunities derived from the media “are molding new forms of sociocultural life.”

Therefore, he advised not to give up the roots and be clear about the goal and direction where we want to guide ourselves: “John and Peter’s career towards the empty sepulcher of Christ is the only career that the Church and the world can travel without fear: it is the career of who knows that hope resides in true life, eternal life.”

“Eternity is before us, before believers and non -believers, before all humanity,” he said below.

“We all have a duty to question ourselves about the meaning of our life”

The Italian religious also said before the members of the Holy See that if “we work for short and mediocre horizons, we work in vain”, and said that “it is necessary to work for the great horizon of life that does not die: living wondering at every moment if what we are doing solidly connects us with that truth that is charity and is eternity.”

All of us have been touched by the brevity of existence and we all have the duty to interrogate ourselves about the meaning of our life, ”he said.

Later, he insisted that hope “is intimately linked to the great yearning of Jesus: that all are one”, and recalled that the Eucharist is the spiritual food “of hope for eternal life and joins wonderfully past, present and future.”

Looking for the Blessed Sacrament, a cure of evil

He also affirmed that the look at the Blessed Sacrament “can cure us of evil” and purify our vision. “We should not fear, we have a great ally in God,” he said below.

“He loves us with eternal love and will always have mercy on us. What we must do is let us mold and perform in time the illuminations that the Holy Spirit offers us precisely through the Eucharist and the Virgin Mary, a sign of safe hope,” he said.

Sor Riva insisted that “the cross can still save us, a welcome and offered cross,” reiterating with hope that “we can still beat” evil.

The religious finished her speech posing her gaze on Mary, who “custodia in our failures and in our potentialities, as custody to the child who has been in his lap.”

“Jesus educates us to meet the paths of hope, first of all look at the Eucharistic bread, to get strength from the past, interpret the present originally and bet on the future,” he concluded.
