Leo XIV asked to balance the law of God, freedom and charity to the participants of the XVII International Congress of Moral Theology held in Bogotá (Colombia) organized by the San Alfonso University Foundation (FUSA) of the Redeemer Missionaries.

In a telegram signed by the Secretary of State of the Vatican, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, and addressed to the rector of this academic institution, P. Óscar Báez Pinto, C.SS.R., the Pope transferred his desire that “these days are an occasion to reflect on the current challenges, changes and conflicts in the light of divine revelation, which finds its fullness in Jesus Christ”.

Likewise, in the message addressed to the organizers and participants in Congress, which is held from August 20 to 21, the Pontiff invited “to address these issues following the wise and always current example of the saints, such as San Alfonso María de Ligorio, which knew how His brothers, thus becoming a visible sign of God’s infinite mercy. ”

Pope Leo XIV also invoked in the telegram “The maternal protection of the blessed Virgin Mary, headquarters of wisdom” and taught the extensive apostolic blessing to the families of the participants.

The meeting of moral theology experts takes place in the Chamber of Commerce of Bogotá under the motto “Changes and conflicts in society, gender, AI and integral ecology.”

Among the speakers are Fr. Antonio Fidalgo C.SS.R., of the Pontifical Alfonsian Academy of Rome; María Martha Cneo and Virginia Azouy, from the Pontifical Argentine Catholic University; Javier Bernabé Fraguas, from the Complutense University of Madrid and Fr. Martín Carbajo Núñez, Ofm, of the Pontifical Alfonsian Academy of Rome.
