The former schismatic nuns of the Belorado Monastery have suffered a significant setback in their legal strategy to claim as their own the heritage of the community from which they were expelled by denying them registration as a civil association.
The Ministry of the Interior would have prevented its inclusion in the National Registry of Associations, according to the Burgos newspapera movement that began last May that sought to give legal status to the group of former religious women who decided to disassociate themselves from the Catholic Church.

The civil association that the former abbess, Laura García de Viedma, wanted to register, intended to become the heir of the canonical religious entity to which they belonged and, consequently, dispose of the assets including the monasteries of Belorado, Orduña and Derio.
The Management Commission created to resolve the case, chaired by the Archbishop of Burgos, Mons. Mario Iceta, has reiterated since the conflict arose that the transformation of the religious community into a civil entity is not possible without submitting to canonical laws.
The fact that women who committed the crime of schism are not recognized as civil legal entities according to canonical norms prevents them from operating collectively with a Tax Identification Number (NIF) or a Tax Identification Code (CIF).
This means that, for example, the funds raised in the campaign carried out through PayPal in the name of the “Santa Clara Clara de Belorado Monastery Association” have not actually gone to an account in the name of such a non-existent group, but to an account in the name of the former abbess.
This campaignnow closed, raised almost 3,000 euros and 63 people contributed to it, among them the false Brazilian sedevacantist bishop Rodrigo Henrique Ribeiro Da Silva, with 100 euros, to whom the ex-nuns were linked at the beginning of August.
Since the excommunication was decreed last May in June, the Pontifical Commissioner has been studying how the former religious who declared themselves sedevacantists can leave the monasteries.
