Justice supports the Government that prohibited events in which the Rosary was prayed

The Contentious-Administrative Chamber of the Superior Court of Justice (TSJ) of Madrid has rejected the appeal filed against the Government’s resolution to prevent the events called to pray the Holy Rosary on Ferraz Street in the capital of Spain.

José Andrés Calderón, the convener, filed a lawsuit against the resolution of the Government Delegation that prohibited these concentrations, understanding that the fundamental right of assembly, included in article 21 of the Spanish Constitution, was being violated.

According to the ruling, to which ACI Prensa has had access, Calderón argued that “prohibiting a few dozen people from meeting to pray, peacefully, without hindering the movement of people and vehicles, is not a necessary measure, in the sense of the judgment of indispensability, to ensure public order, and much less proportional in the strict sense.”
