The exhibition brings together two works of exceptional importance, which offer a deep reflection on faith, hope and redemptive power of art in the spiritual field.

These are “the disciples Pedro and Juan run together towards the tomb of Christ in the morning of the resurrection” (1898) by Eugène Burnand, a Swiss painter known for his works of religious theme; and “The dinner in Emaus” (1629) by Rembrandt Harmenszoon Van Rijn, Dutch painter and recorder, considered one of the most important figures of the Dutch Golden Age.

The work of Eugène Burnand was initially presented at the Paris Hall and is currently exhibited at the Luxembourg Museum.

It is an iconic representation of the Easter vigil that shows the disciples in an act of urgency and faith, running towards the sepulcher illuminated by sunlight, symbol of hope and rebirth.

On the other hand, “The dinner in Emaus” captures the moment when two disciples, on their way, recognize Jesus resurrected during a meal. Rembrandt uses an intense game of lights and shadows to emphasize the mystery and ineffability of divinity.

The work, rarely exposed in Italy, symbolizes the transformative encounter with resurrected Christ, revealing the hidden dimension of divine power and spiritual rebirth.

The exhibition, located in the church of San Marcello al Corso, will be open to the public for free. The opening event will be held on April 8 at 6:00 p.m. (local time). As of April 9, the exhibition can be visited every day from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
