A few minutes before 5:30 p.m., Pope Francis ascended a ramp in a wheelchair to the atrium located next to the Holy Door or also called the Jubilee Door.
He then delivered the bull of convocation to the four cardinal archpriests of the Papal Basilicas of Rome: to Cardinal Mauro Gambetti, Archpriest of St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican; to the Archpriest of the Basilica of Saint John Lateran; to Cardinal James Michael Harvey, Archpriest of the Basilica of Saint Paul Outside the Walls and to the Archpriest of the Basilica of Saint Mary Major.
To express the desire that the Ordinary Jubilee of Hope be celebrated in Rome and throughout the world, the Pope gave a copy of the bull – to send it symbolically to all the bishops – to the Prefect of the Congregation for Bishops, the Cardinal Robert Prevost; to the Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle and to the Prefect of the Congregation for the Oriental Churches, Mons. Claudio Gugerotti.
