In the interview, Janja da Silva said that he had not yet commented on the case – which shocked Argentines – “out of respect for the privacy” of the former first lady of Argentina, Fabiola Yañez.
“My contact was made directly with Fabiola, by phone, as soon as I found out about the case. I gave her my solidarity and support, as well as my indignation at this moment. Women who are victims of violence are already in a vulnerable situation due to their own violence suffered and, often, difficult to accept until the moment of the complaint. Precisely because we have a friendly relationship, I decided not to expose his intimacy further”, said Janja.
The former president was sued for gender-based violence last week, after Fabiola formalized the complaint against him, in a statement via Zoom from the capital of Spain, Madrid, where she lives with the couple’s young son.
The Court was investigating a case of alleged fraud committed during the Fernández government (2019-2023) when it found photos of Fabiola, with marks of violence, on one of the former president’s cell phones. At first, when contacted by the courts, she said she did not intend to denounce him. Days later, she changed her mind, arguing that Fernández was pressuring her over the phone. In the investigation, which began days ago, new videos and WhatsApp conversations further compromised Fernández’s suitability, in addition to Fabiola’s requests for help to his former secretary, among others.
The revelations shocked Argentines and research, released this week, indicated that Fernández’s attitude during the Presidency causes “disgust”, as the Synopsis Consultores analyst said. This Wednesday, the former president accused Fabiola of “violation and disclosure of secrecy” and “illegitimate access” to his Google cloud account, where the photos and videos published in the Argentine press were located. Fernández claimed to be the victim of “a campaign against him”. Today, however, it is difficult to find those who believe his word.
