It is the best airline in South America and also stands out for its staff, entertainment and sustainability

Known as the “Oscar of the airline industry”the prizes awarded by the consulting firm Skytrax are delivered annually to airlines and airports, based on the opinions of millions of travelers from around the world.

Beyond the always expected ranking of the Best Airlines 2024, which this year had Qatar Airways leading the podium, there are also awards regional recognitions and other more “thematic” ones related to the service on board, food, or facilities for families, as well as differentiating traditional companies from low-cost ones.

Thus, in this 2024 edition of the World Travel Awards, the LATAM airline obtained recognition as Best Airline in South America for the fifth consecutive time.

It is also the third year that it has received the award for Best Airline Staff in South America.

It must be remembered that although LATAM Argentina ceased operations on June 17, 2020 (it stopped flying within the country), the LATAM group continues operating international flights that link Argentina with other destinations.

And it continues to expand options: a month ago, it opened the sale of non-stop flights between the city of Rosario (Argentina) and Lima (Peru), which will begin on December 1. This route will be operated with Airbus 319/320 aircraft, with capacity for 138 passengers.

Why LATAM was the Best Airline in South America 2024

“It is a great honor to receive the category of Best Airline in South America by fifth consecutive year and our staff fills us with pride, who for the third consecutive year achieves the category Best Airline Staff in South America”said Paulo Miranda, Vice President of Customers at LATAM Airlines Group.

He added: “These recognitions are taken with Big responsibility throughout the group, and they motivate us to remain committed to the experience of each of our clients.”

To explain these awards, in LATAM they emphasize the improvements implemented in their services in recent times: “the constant renewal of cabins with new ergonomic seats that improves travel comfort”; the “continuous updating of the in-flight entertainment platform”; and a culinary offer that highlights the cultural-gastronomic heritage of the region led by female chefs.

The airline also invested in digitalization focused on allowing people to self-manage their things both inside and outside the airport.

Other awards: Leading Airline. Sustainability and more

Due to all the previous renewals, LATAM also kept the title of “Leading Airline of South America 2024” at the World Travel Awardsawards given to the tourism industry, including airline companies.

These awards are added to others: “Better sustainability on board”at the Onboard Hospitality Awards 2024, for the second consecutive year, and where it also received the mention “Highly Commended” (highly recommended) by categories “Best entertainment on board” e “Catering innovation of the year”; and the “Outstanding Food Service by a Carrier for South America 2024 (“Outstanding Food Service from a Carrier for South America 2024”), awarded by Pax International Awards, for the fifth year.
