International Association of Exorcists has 900 members and launches a section in Spanish on its website

The International Association of Exorcists (AIE), which already has around 900 members around the world, has launched a Spanish section on its official website.

The IEA, promoted by the famous exorcist of Rome Gabriele Amorth and officially recognized by the Vatican in 2014, points out in a note sent to ACI Prensa that in this new section you can find “training articles from Catholic doctrine and news about reality “current esoteric and occult”.

The note specifies that “it is also possible to make consultations” and that, for contact with the exorcists, “they must refer only to the curia/bishopric of their Diocese.”

The International Association of Exorcists was founded 30 years ago and received approval from the Holy See on June 13, 2014, as a “private association of faithful of pontifical right.”

“The AIE is primarily intended for the service of priests who exercise the ministry of exorcism in the Church with the license of their respective Bishops or Ordinaries,” the text states.

“It also includes lay assistants, as well as psychiatrist and psychologist experts. Currently there are around 900 associates around the world,” he adds.

The IEA is organized by linguistic secretariats. In the case of the Spanish language or Spanish-speaking secretariat, it brings together 21 countries: 19 in America, one in Africa and one in Europe, bringing together more than 100 members in total.

The IEA note explains that exorcism is a “delicate and discreet ministry in the Church” that “is directed with preferential love to those who, being under the extraordinary action of the Evil One, are the poorest of the poor, in need of help.” , of understanding, of liberation and of consolation.”

“But, in addition to the celebration of the exorcism when there is moral certainty, it is above all a pastoral service of evangelization and the first announcement for those, disoriented by the consequences of the new age or new era and current neo-paganism, seek their hope in Christ,” the note concludes.

What is an exorcism in the Catholic Church?

In a video titled A priest explains Catholic exorcism to usFather François Buet, exorcist of the diocese of Marseille (France), explained in April 2024 that “exorcism is a prayer of the Church” against the power of the devil.

It is a sacramental, not a sacrament, performed by some priests, at least one per diocese, with “permission from their bishops.”

The Code of Canon Law establishes in canon 1172 that “without a peculiar and express license from the local Ordinary (bishop), no one can legitimately perform exorcisms on the possessed.”

The text also adds that “the local Ordinary will grant this license only to a pious, learned, prudent priest with integrity of life.”
