According Radio Fe y Alegríaa commission from the Regional Health Directorate of the Delta Amacuro state arrived on April 9 to the community of Nabasanuka, from where they serve the settlements of Sakoinoko and Yorinanoko, where at least 12 children have died.
Both towns are geographically isolated, so access by the authorities is limited, explains Radio Fe y Alegría. Furthermore, the waraos do not have electricity, the internet is limited and they are constantly exposed to various infections caused by contact with contaminated water.
“The console priests present in Nabasanuka help these communities mitigate some problems, especially with drinking water, food and medicine, but the demand is great and is not enough for everyone,” says Radio Fe y Alegría.
