After a process of digitizing procedures, the Buenos Aires town of San Nicolás de los Arroyos inaugurated the modality of renewing the driver’s license through WhatsApp.
Mayor Santiago Passaglia was in charge of making the announcement by delivering the first renewed registration in this way. “From now on it will only be enough send a medical certificate indicating that the user is fit to drive. It is done by WhatsApp and the new license is received at home,” he explained.
San Nicolás de los Arroyos has been working on the simplification and digitalization of its procedures. In fact, it is the first 100% digital municipality in Argentina, where all procedures are carried out virtually.
“Technology has been present in the lives of neighbors for years, I don’t understand how there are many who still think it is an obstacle. For our part, we are going in-depth on this issue, because we realized that it makes life easier for our neighbors and gives us efficiency as a Municipality, which is very important,” said Passaglia.
The city’s new advance was regarding the driver’s license. Starting next Monday, Nicoleños who need to renew their license will not have to set foot in the Municipality: they will do it from their homes, with their cell phone, through WhatsApp and they will receive their credentials right there.
“The procedure is very simple: you upload the documentation that proves your identity, which the system itself validates with the Renaper database. You add the medical certificate and that’s it. In 5 minutes you complete the procedure and we take the license to your home,” explained Santiago Passaglia.
Today, in the vast majority of the municipalities of the Province, renewal continues to be an in-person procedure. In La Plata, for example, The process takes 15 days, it is difficult to get appointments and to do so most must ask for a day at work.
“The best thing about this system is that it can be done 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. There is no need to wait in lines, miss work or have to move from one place to another to complete the procedure,” the mayor stated.
