The Formula 1 announced this Monday that it reached a preliminary agreement with General Motors (GM) to support the incorporation of GM/Cadillac as the eleventh team on the category’s grid starting in 2026.
The dialogue between Formula 1 and General Motors, together with its partners in TWG Globalstarted some time ago and focused on the viability of this entry, following a commercial evaluation and the decision made by F1 in January 2024.
“Throughout this year, both parties achieved important operational achievements and have reaffirmed their commitment to the entry of GM/Cadillac as a new team, in addition to GM being an engine supplier at a later stage. Therefore, Formula 1 decided move forward with the application process and promises to provide more details in the near future,” reads the statement released by F1.
