The market of used cars grew again compared to 2022, despite speculation, the lack of units and the marked price increase between 10% and 15% for the most sought after models.
The Automotive Chamber of Commerce (CCA) reported that in November they were sold in Argentina 132,314 used vehicleswhich represents an increase of 4.04% compared to the 127,178 units sold last year.
Taking into account the supply difficulties and the economic crisis, the sector assures that the projections close to 1.7 million units were unthinkable at the beginning of the year.
Between January and November they sold 1.532.371 used vehicles, which indicates a growth of 5.34% compared to the same period in 2022, when 1,454,637 operations were registered.
Despite these increases, the comparison with the October results (141,550 vehicles) shows a decrease of 6.52%.
Alejandro Lamas, secretary of CCA commented that “November marked new growth in a year that ends with permanent ups and downs.”
While regarding the assumption of Javier Milei and the future outlook he said: “We know that at first it will be hard to navigate, but they promise us a light at the end of the road, so we will have to resort to the maximum of our professionalism to be able to overcome the new context in the hope that the sacrifice makes sense.”
Price increase
Taking into account the CCA ranking, the most sought after replacement vehicles were once again small cars and medium pickups.
The best seller was once again Volkswagen Golwhose range -whatever the year and version- received a price increase in the order of 10%, according to the list published by the CEC.
For years the Gol has been the replacement car most sought after by the public. The boy that was produced in Brazil until the end of last year leads the annual table and was the best seller of November with 8,012 units.
The Chevrolet Corsa, the Renault Clio and the Ford Fiesta are also other top 10 models that rose 10% compared to last month.
As for the pickups, Toyota Hilux It was once again the most searched and also the one that increased the most: 15,5% in all its versions.
The pickup manufactured in Zárate was third in the general ranking for November (behind the Chevrolet Corsa), with 4,059 units. And just like in the 0 km market, it also rules among used trucks.
The Chamber expresses that the values in its guide (includes more than 6,000 models and versions) are estimates and are established based on operations carried out and periodic surveys of the marketing sector. Likewise, it clarifies that they do not include transfer, insurance and freight costs, among others.
