Fiat has just started a new stage as a national producer; One more since in 1960 he put first with the Fiat 600 at the Caseros plant. It is not the first time that Fiat produces a pickup in our country. In 1966 he debuted with the unforgettable 1500 Multicarga And almost a decade later his legacy continued 125 Multicarga. Both were developed on the basis of the silk and could transport up to 600 kilos in the load box.
Where the Italian brand debuts is in the segment of medium -white chaats, one of the most competitive in the country and in which the Argentine automotive industry has a vast trajectory.
Fiat Titano is the First of three medium pickups that Stellantis (automotive giant that among other brands has Fiat under its umbrella) will manufacture in the Cordoba industrial complex. It was not yet formalized what the other two models will be, although that family would be completed with the Peugeot Landtrek and the RAM 1200.
The project, for which they were invested 385 million dollarsalso contemplates the development of auto parts and the production of the turbodiesel engine Multijet 2.2 liters of 200 horsepowerfrom 2027. This promoter is currently produced in Italy and is the one that equips the national pickup.
For all this Stellantis will add a total of 1,800 employees, of which the 50% will be women.
To know the origin of this Titano you have to go back to 2017, when Peugeot reached an agreement with the Chinese manufacturer Changan To produce a median van. That way the Landtrek Pickup of the Lion brand was born.
Four years later Stellantis was created, the conglomerate that has the Fiat, Peugeot, Jeep, Citroën, DS and RAM brands in our region. It was there when the Italian company saw the opportunity to have a new model that expands its truck offer.
Using the base of the Landtrek assembled in the Uruguayan Plant of Nordex (Grupo Antelo), Fiat made some adjustments in the suspension to present its truck on Brazilian soil.
In general, Titano’s style is very attractive. It is not the largest van in the category in all size references but it does exceed one another to some extent. That is why it looks wide, strong and very well stopped.
The titano offered in Brazil has only double cab body, and with that configuration it would be launched in our market. It measures 5.330 mm long, 1,963 mm wide, 1,897 mm high (with ceiling bars) and 3,180 mm of axes.
It weighs 2,150 kilos and has one of the greatest load capabilities, con 1.020 kg. and a trailer capacity of 3,500 kilos. In addition, it has the broadest segment load box (1,630 mm x 1,600 mm).
The national pickup has several changes in relation to which until now it occurred in Uruguay. As we said, the engine is the 2.2 200 hp turbodiesel of 450 nm torque (not 2.2 of 180 hp and 400 nm); It also incorporates a new ZF automatic box, eight speeds (adds to the 6 -speed manual), disc brakes on the four wheels, new suspensions and instrument board, among the most prominent.
The manual box versions will have 4×2 and 4×4 traction system, while the automatic only 4×4 (with rear differential block).
Although it is not yet known how the range that will be sold here will be composed, it is worth noting that in the neighboring country it is offered with three equipment levels: Endurance (which can be manual or automatic), Volcano and Ranch (these two, only with automatic transmission).
