The presentation of Ford Everest It was undoubtedly one of the summer ads. The oval brand was exhibiting the new model in Pinamar and Cariló as prior to its official launch, a fact that should occur in April.
Before that it happens, in Clarion We had the possibility to try it for a week. And while we will end up missing a key detail such as its list price, the reality is that the proposal with which it arrives will shake the 4×4 segment derived from pickups.
This model shares platform with the Ford Ranger that is manufactured in our country. However, this version “Carrozada” It will arrive imported from Thailandat least for now.
Its main rivals will be well -known vehicles and with a presence for many years in our market, such as the Toyota Sw4 and the Chevrolet Trailblazer, manufactured in Argentina and Brazil respectively.
And the reality marks that Everest arrives with a very different proposal in several aspects: from its size, since it is larger than its rivals, through its level of equipment and, fundamentally, by a different mechanic: The oval model comes with a gasoline engine.
How is Ford Everest
This new Everest is a novelty in our market but reality indicates that it is A model that already existed with the past generation of the Ranger. But Ford Argentina just decided to bring it now.
Its resemblance in the tube with that of the national production pickup is unquestionable: there are only few elements that are not repeated and the design concept remains unchanged.

From the middle of the vehicle to the back is where we find the most novel for these lands and the truth is that Does not carry a language that quickly identifies with the brand. Although it must be recognized that it is well achieved and provided.
With a wheelbase of 2,900 mm and a width of 1,923 mm, the almost 5 meters that measures long seem less thanks to their good proportions. To highlight the short horn, which offers an excellent exit angle, highly valued at the time of off-road practice.
Inside the similarity with Ranger is also undeniable, although there are some differences in favor of the national pickup. The instrument board, for example, is smaller and less complete In Everest, at least in the only version that arrives in the country (Titanium) and compared to the Limited+, the range of the truck made in Pacheco.
The terminations are very good as well as materials. But the difference also makes it with the sliding panoramic roof, something that their rivals do not have, and the air conditioning in the three rows of seats.

There is also a step (or two) above in the Interior modularity and the ease of configuring the seats. The second row is divided into 2/3-1/3 and can move longitudinally or completely recline or fold backups. The third row are two individual seats that unfold or fold electronically, making configuration very easy.
The entrance to the third row is simpler than in other 7 -seat vehicles and, although it is not a recommended space for adults, there is more place than what is expected in such a model.
But the most notorious difference with respect to competition, which offers turbodiesel options, is in its mechanics: it carries a turbocharged, 4 -cylinder and 2.3 liters of displace 300 hp yy 446 nm of torque. Thanks to the injection and assistance of the turbo, 80% of that force is now available at 2,000 rpm. It is combined with the 10 -speed automatic box.

The result of the mechanical set is to highlight, especially for the good responses that it gives low. In addition, the acceleration is progressive and there are no pulls, more typical of a diesel once the turbo blows. Good engine reactions end up becoming an agile vehicle to Everest, also helped by a very good rotation radius.
The operation of the suspensions is also to underline. Unlike the pickup, which carries elastic in the rear scheme, this 4×4 replaces them with spirals, which gives a more comfortable march and a greater commitment to stability. En route amazes its strength and comfort comfort.
Draws attention to the choice of the traction system: it has 2h (simple rear traction), 4h (50-50 cast between the two axes) and 4L (Multiply the force thanks to the transfer box. But it does not carry the option of whole wheel traction with an automatic coupling and distribution, something that is available in Ranger and that would look very good for this Everest for its route qualities.

Of course its off-road capacity is high. The discreet must be added the rear differential blocking and the management programs that attend with electronics depending on the type of soil we are traveling. The only limitation it has, as equipped as standard, is in the tires, with a design designed for the asphalt: on sand and earth solves it well but in mud the drawing is quickly filled and becomes tires slicks.
The equipment is very good in general, although some missing ones that are available in the most equipped version of the Ranger are repeated. In terms of driving assistance, for example, it carries a conventional cruise speed control, non -adaptive. Nor does it have the lane focused system. And in terms of airbags it offers only 6 (front, front and curtain sides), when the national flat has 7 for its entire range (add one of knee for the driver).
The new Everest also adds to the list of Ford connected vehicles, which allows the user to manage some functions from an app on the phone, access vehicle information or interact with the brand’s assistance services.

The question that is still maintained is with what price it will be released. Because of its origin, this model You must pay a 35% import tariffsomething that its two direct rivals do not do it because it is produced in the region. Given this more the level of equipment than in general, the expectation is that Everest is more expensive than SW4 and Trailblazer.
We will have to wait to see if that difference in equipment, modernity, technology and, above all, its Naftera offer convinces customers who had become accustomed to choosing, in the best case, between two alternatives.
