According to the website Holy Week in the City of Goiás, the tradition disappeared at the beginning of the 20th century and was resumed in 1965, with the founding of the Vilaboense Organization of Arts and Traditions (OVAT). It is considered Cultural and Intangible Heritage through Law No. 21,855, published in the Official State Gazette (DOE) on April 11, 2023.
“We can only thank the people who once again came to brighten our procession,” the president of OVAT, Rodrigo dos Santos e Silva, told ACI Digital – the Portuguese agency of the ACI Group.
