The night between Good Thursday and Good Friday of this Holy Week 2024, a fire occurred in the Santa Rosa de Lima Church in the municipality of San Germán in Puerto Rico. There were no victims but there was a lot of material damage.
The parish priest of the church, Father Edwin Lorenzo, spoke briefly with Lemuel TV in the early hours of Good Friday and explained that around 11:00 pm on Holy Thursday, still in the middle of the religious service, “a fire started behind the altar.”
“There was damage throughout the church, some stained glass windows were burned, everything that was in the back and part of what was the altar. The bottom was also damaged,” he said.
