Holy Saturday, the day when everyone lost faith, except Mary, Mother of God

That changes everything. Today is “the day of the concealment of God”, true, but at the same time it is the “hour of Mary”, the hour of faith.

Blessed are those who believe without having seen (Jn 20, 29)

Perhaps it is the lack of faith that explains why, when the women found the empty tomb, “they were bewildered,” “full of fear” (cf. Lk 24, 4-5). They did not understand why Jesus’ body was not where they had left it. The story of Saint John says: “And they (the angels) said to her: Woman, why are you crying? She said to them: Because they have taken my Lord, and I do not know where they have put him” (Jn 20, 13). Only when they see Christ appear do they believe.

The Virgin Mary, on the other hand, did not go to the tomb because she kept her faith and hope intact. She had indeed kept the word of God deep in her heart, clinging to it. She was not disappointed, nor scared, nor distrustful. The Mother trusted and waited for the resurrection of the Son. Blessed are you among women!
