In the Basilica of the Holy Sepulcher there is the Latin Chapel of the Crucifixion, a space on Calvary where Catholics carry out their celebrations, such as the Good Friday liturgy. However, the altar on which these rites are performed was removed, as reported by the Franciscans of the Custody of the Holy Land (CTS).
The event happened on Monday, April 8. That day a group of workers dismantled the altar, which was donated in the 16th century to the Franciscans of the Holy Land by Fernando de Medici, grand duke of Tuscany, an Italian region whose current capital is Florence.
