Mons. Munilla and his role in the film about Carlo Acutis

Holiness Kit: The Path to God by Carlo Acutis is directed by Gaby Jácoba, known for her work in the making and dissemination of Catholic films at the head of the International Catholic Film Festival. The script was written by Pablo Casso, and the production is by Ave María Films and Hollywood Catholic Films.

The film addresses the messages and teachings of the young Acutis to achieve sainthood, and brings together important personalities, such as Antonio Mauri, son of the well-known Mexican actor Toño Mauri; Dr. Ricardo Castañón, expert in Eucharistic miracles; Pepe Alonso, EWTN host; Father José Juan Montalvo, known as Father Borre; Noel Murillo, editorial director of Radio María United States; among other important figures.

In statements to ACI Prensa, Jácoba highlighted that it has been a “blessing” that Mons. Munilla can integrate part of the cast of the film in a fictional space, but “acting like him, like Mons. Munilla”, who will have interaction with Antonio Mauri, “who embodies Sebastián, a young man who begins a spiritual journey, a journey towards finding himself, searching for God and therefore seeking a conversion of life at the hands of Carlo.”

“And Mons. Munilla plays the part of a guide for this young man,” highlighted the director of the film, highlighting that the Spanish prelate “has such a current, so fresh, so direct way of touching hearts.”

An inspiration for young people

Jácoba indicated that the new film addresses “seven key points” that Carlo Acutis left as a legacy as a path to holiness: “the Holy Mass, Confession, the Holy Rosary, Eucharistic adoration, reading the Bible, works of mercy and devotion to the guardian angel.”

The filming of the film, Jácoba recalled, began in Assisi, from where the young man’s mother, Antonia, participated. In these weeks the production is in the United States, “where the story part of the film will be shot,” which presents the story of “a young university student who was far from God, with a void in his life, because he has a meeting with this cyber apostle of the Eucharist, Carlo Acutis, who takes him on a spiritual journey, a journey of conversion, of transformation, of healing in his heart, through this holiness kit.”

“And on this journey, God takes him with different people who lead him to deeply know each of these points, resulting in a process of conversion, transformation and life change.”

The director of Holiness Kit He assured that the new film “will inspire many young people” and “will lead many people to fall more in love with the Holy Eucharist, but also to know the legacy of this great blessed, who will soon be a saint.”
