The churches of Rome are known for housing numerous treasures of Christianity. A clear example is the church of Jesus (Church of Jesus), which houses an important relic of the holy missionary whose feast day is celebrated this December 3.
Saint Francis Xavier He was a Jesuit priest and Spanish missionary of the 16th century. Tradition usually refers to him as the “Giant of the History of the Missions”, due to his evangelizing impetus and his spiritual strength.
It was he who proposed to bring the Gospel to the East, specifically to Asia, in what would be one of the most ambitious missionary expeditions of that time. Francis Xavier was able to reach India and Japan, and he died before reaching the shores of mainland China on December 3, 1552.
