Latin Americaa “truthful and visually powerful” film about “how Spanish America was really born and developed,” will premiere in seven Latin American countries next Thursday, October 24.
In Panama, Honduras, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala and Peru, the film can be seen at Cinépolis. In the latter country it will also be seen at Cinemark. In Ecuador the film can be seen in multiplexes.

The film has been produced and directed by José Luis López-Linares (Spain, the First Globalization), “considered one of the greatest exponents of Spanish documentary cinema”, awarded with three Goya Awards, the Ondas Award and a nomination for the Emmy Awards, according to a note from Bosco Films sent to ACI Prensa.
Shared history more than 300 years
“Latin America shows the history shared for more than 300 years through the visual splendor that constitutes the architectural, pictorial, sculptural and musical heritage of the time, still valid today,” the text states.
The film, shot in Ecuador, Spain, Peru, Bolivia, Mexico and the United States, has the participation of various historians and experts such as Adelaida Sagarra, Marcelo Gullo, Carmen Iglesias, Enrique Krauze and Juan Miguel Zunzunegui.
Key women in American history
The film highlights the figure of three women in American history: Queen Isabel La Católica, in the process of beatification; the Virgin of Guadalupe; Empress of America; and Doña Marina, “from her union with Hernán Cortés, Martín Cortés was born, the first mestizo, the first Mexican.”
The musicologist Francisco Núñez also appears in the film, who explains the American origin of “many of our current genres (the Peruvian cajon, flamenco, zapateado, among others).”
The note specifies that with Latin America They want to show that “they have told us the story wrong and we have believed it.”

Congress Latin America, a shared future
On October 23, one day before the film’s premiere, the free conference will be held Latin America, a shared futurein Lima (Peru), of the University of Applied Sciences (UPC), at the San Isidro headquarters.
At the event will be José Luis López-Linares and the historians Ramón Mujica and Pedro Pablo Alayza, as well as the author of the book of the Hispanic Incas Rafael Aita, known as Captain Peru, David Pino, among others.
There will also be Spaniards Consuelo Martínez-Sicluna and Eduardo Puig de la Bellacasa, director and general secretary of the Institute of American Studies – CEU.
Also participating are Mauricio Novoa, Dean of the Faculty of Art at the UPC; Ricardo Morais, Director of Humanities of the same university; and Rossana Echeandía, Director of the Communication and Journalism degree.
