The 0km car market closed favorably again in November. Although all attention was focused on the runoff that defined Javier Milei as the new president of the country and a dizzying exchange rate scheme, the pace of sales grew by 5.8% compared to 2022.
November also defined the Fiat Cronos as the model best seller on the market for the third consecutive year, already with an advantage impossible to match. And it also marked another milestone: the 100% digital and virtual patenting of vehicles.
However, what has not yet been defined is whether Toyota Hilux will maintain its long reign as the best-selling pickup or will it be dethroned by Volkswagen Amarok, which was once again the best-selling truck for the third consecutive month.
The Association of Automotive Dealers of the Argentine Republic (ACARA) reported that last month they sold 35,665 units 0kmwhich represents a year-on-year increase of 5.8% compared to the 33,695 vehicles patented in November 2022.
Although if the numbers are compared with the October exercise, the low is 15% (41,681 patents).
In this way, in the accumulated eleven months of the year, 430,636 units10.9% more than in the same period of 2022, in which 388,169 vehicles had been registered.
According to Sebastián Beato, president of ACARA: “The upward market trend has not stopped due to exchange or political issues because people know that among what is available there are opportunities to take advantage of. We are thinking of a market that is 8% larger than in 2023. , which would give us a floor of 480,000 units.
Red hot definition
In November, the winner was once again the Fiat Cronos (3,082), which totals 46,442 and has an advantage of more than 18,000 units over Toyota Hilux, currently in second place.
The second best-selling model of November is the VW Amarok (2,800 units), followed by two other pickups: Toyota Hilux (2,471) and the new Ford Ranger (1,930).
One month before the end of the year, Amarok narrowed the difference with Hilux to less than 300 units (28,337 against 28,043) and if the trend of recent months continues, it could come to a head.
However, during the recent launch of the Hilux SRX, Gustavo Salinas, president of Toyota Argentina, highlighted that, due to the drop in sales in Colombia and Chile, they could redirect part of their units destined for export to the local market.
