There was everything but football at the Ducó Palace in Parque Patricios. The thing is that Huracán and Boca fought much more than they played. And the referee Hernán Mastrángelo had a lot to do with it. He did not know how to control the game well and that was evident with a series of situations that occurred throughout the 90 minutes. Especially with the play at the end that could have changed history if the judge did not rush to award a penalty that was later annulled by the VAR.
But better to go in parts. Because Mastrángelo did not know how to control and deactivate in time the crossings between the Globo fans and the visiting substitutes, which crossed ugly lines at the end of the initial stage and which forced the actions to stop for about 10 minutes.
But the worst happened at the end of the meeting. Walter Mazzantti accelerated fully and left Marcelo Saracchi on the road and later collided with Sergio Romero. The striker rolled, involuntarily touched the ball with his hand and gave it to Alfonso, who was first blocked and then left alone under the goal. He did not convert because the judge blew the whistle and awarded a penalty.
But the penalty was finally annulled by the VAR, which was managed by Germán Delfino, supported by the AVAR Javier Delbarba. They saw that the Uruguayan defender had not intervened and that Romero had been stepped on by the forward and not the other way around, even though he did not get to play the ball. That is why Mastrángelo reversed.
The problem was that he could have waited for the play to end. Because Mazzantti’s handball should not have been called and it no longer had an impact on the goal that Alfonso never scored. That made Frank Kudelka explode, who complained angrily and then engaged in a heated exchange with Fernando Gago. The discussion was so heated that both missed the end of the meeting. And they did not see how Alarcón almost scored it from a free kick nor did they observe when the judge decided to end the match when the Globe had a corner in favor.
