The origin and purpose of the initiative that emerged on Ferraz Street in Madrid led to a certain confusion in the way it was named. Thus, it began to be called, unofficially, but very widespread, “Rosario for Spain.”
However, under this name there has already been another call since 2012 that calls for pray every 12th day of the month (in reference to October 12, the day of the national holiday and commemoration of the arrival of the Spanish to America).
El Rosario Por España, with 20 permanent calls announced on its website, shares the diagnosis made by Calderón: “The secularization of Spain and its progressive renunciation of the Catholic Faith is the main cause of its moral crisis, which has its tangible expression in a terrible economic crisis, legislation that threatens life, and a real threat of rupture of National Unity.”
Consequently, they maintain that “only the interpellation of the Virgin Mary, Queen of Spain and the sincere conversion of the Spanish people, can save our Nation from the abyss to which it is inexorably heading.”
