At the foot of Pic Macaya, the highest mountain in Haiti, a parish created in August 2023 has become a beacon of peace and harmony in the midst of the chaos, violence and death that reign in the country. Its parish priest, the Camillian Massimo Miraglio, works to build a better future, fighting “against hatred and resentment.”
For several weeks, the Haitian people have been hit by the violence of criminal gangs that operate freely in the country, especially in Port-au-Prince, where they control 80% of the territory without any opposition from the police.
Father Miraglio, of Italian origin, expressed in an interview with Vatican News that the flourishing of the new community of believers is considered a miracle, taking into account the difficult national reality.
