Father José de Jesús Aguilar, deputy director of Radio and Television of the Archdiocese of Mexico, presented a guide to celebrating a traditional, truly Catholic Christmas posada.
The Christmas posadas emerged in Mexico as an evangelizing initiative of Augustinian missionaries in the 16th century.
These missionaries took advantage of the nocturnal celebrations of pre-Hispanic origin that the indigenous people carried out after the middle of December to give them a new meaning: accompanying Saint Mary and Saint Joseph on their way to Bethlehem.
