Guatemala will house important forum on human rights: religious freedom, life and family

On September 24 and 25 Guatemala City will host the International Forum “Meeting for Religious Freedom, Life and Family”, a space that will bring together legislators, politicians, experts and leaders of social platforms from various parts of the world.

The event will take place at the Guatemala Congress, and is organized by the Parliamentary Front for the Religious Freedom of the Guatemala Congress – which brings together more than 30 legislators – the The Family Association Import (AFI) y Political Network for Values (PNfV).

In addition, it has the support of the Permanent Forum for Religious Freedom, the International Center for Law and Religion Studies, ADF International and the Guatemalan Institute of Tourism.

In a communicationthe Guatemalan deputy Ronald Portillo, host of the event, highlights that it seeks to “consolidate a space for dialogue and cooperation between Guatemalans, convinced that protecting life, guaranteeing freedoms and strengthening the institutionality of the family are essential for the progress and integral development of our nation”.

For its part, Ligia Briz, Executive Director of AFI, emphasizes that “religious freedom, life and family are at risk in various parts of the world, but in Guatemala they are still widely appreciated and is in the roots of our society.”

With this forum, he says, “we seek to generate synergies and solid commitments among decision makers in favor of these issues.”

In turn, Rodrigo Iván Cortés, vice president of the Board of Directors of PNFV, stressed that both the protection of life, the recognition of the family and the natural element of society and religious freedom are protected by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
