“As stated on numerous occasions, the Church must be a campaign hospital that welcomes and cares for the most vulnerable,” they added.
In this sense, they specified that the Gemelli Polyclinic and its Faculty of Medicine and Surgery have felt “honest” for having been able to contribute to the recovery of the Holy Father who entered on February 14 with a bronchitis that resulted in bilateral pneumonia.
Since his hospital admission, doctors and nurses “have once again demonstrated their professionalism, dedication and humanity, in line with the vocation of service that Pope Francis himself has highlighted on so many occasions,” they explained in the statement.
Therefore, the Catholic University and the Gemelli Foundation have wanted to express their thanks to all health personnel for the “exceptional quality of the care provided, not only to the pontiff, but to all patients” who have been admitted to this hospital.
