Gaza Catholics are burying their dead in Muslim cemeteries

After the first wave of bombing left the dialysis unit unusable, Abu Dawood had to move south, hoping to continue his treatments there. With the help of the Latin Patriarchate, he managed to reach Khan Yunis and receive care.

However, when the diesel needed to run the machinery ran out after the bombings, there was nothing more that could be done. He attempted to return north to say goodbye to his family, who had taken refuge in the Latin parish of the Holy Family. Unfortunately, he was unable to obtain permission to do so and he passed away on February 1, shortly after his 45th birthday.

Tarazi, 34, was already in southern Gaza, in Zawayda, where he had taken refuge with his wife and two young children, when he suffered a serious attack of appendicitis. He too did not have the opportunity to obtain permission to return to the north for medical treatment, and by the time he managed to reach Khan Yunis Hospital his appendicitis had already turned into peritonitis. There was nothing that could be done.
